Counseling & Student Support

At Portland Christian School, we believe every student has been uniquely created by God with gifts, abilities, and purpose. Our Counseling team partners with families from Lower School through High School to provide academic guidance, personalized support, and college and career planning that equips students to flourish academically, spiritually, and personally.

Lower School (K–5)

Building Strong Foundations

Early academic success begins with strong relationships and intentional support.

Our Lower School team partners with teachers and families to monitor student growth, identify learning needs, and help students gain confidence in the classroom.

Support may include:
✓ Reading intervention
✓ Math intervention
✓ Progress monitoring
✓ Small-group instruction
✓ Parent collaboration
✓ Social-emotional supports

Middle School (6–8)

Growing in Confidence

Middle school is a season of tremendous academic, emotional, and spiritual growth.

Our Student Support team helps students strengthen study habits, organization, executive functioning, and self-advocacy while continuing to provide academic interventions when needed.

Support may include:
✓ Academic coaching
✓ Executive functioning skills
✓ Organization and time management
✓ Reading and math support
✓ Transition planning
✓ Parent communication
✓ Individualized intervention plans

High School (9–12)

Preparing for What's Next

As students enter high school, our focus expands to include academic planning, career exploration, and post-secondary preparation.

Every student receives individualized guidance as they consider college, career, military, vocational, and other post-graduation pathways.

Support includes:
✓ Four-year academic planning
✓ College counseling
✓ Career exploration
✓ Scholarship guidance
✓ FAFSA assistance
✓ College applications
✓ Resume building
✓ Dual credit advising
✓ Interview preparation
✓ Decision support
