Portland Christian School is launching a new strategic planning initiative to ensure we steward our resources faithfully, stay tightly aligned to our mission, and keep raising the bar in academic excellence. This plan will serve as a clear roadmap for long-term sustainability—so PCS can continue serving students and families with strength and stability for generations to come. Most importantly, we’re approaching this work as a partnership with our community, inviting voices across PCS to help shape a future marked by purpose, faithfulness, and lasting Kingdom impact.

This is a decisive moment for our school. A strategic plan allows us to move forward with clarity and unity—ensuring that our mission, resources, and priorities are intentionally aligned as we respond to current realities and prepare responsibly for the future.

Portland Christian School is strongest when our community helps shape the direction of the school. These surveys are your chance to tell us what we should protect, what we should improve, and where we need to invest—so the Strategic Plan reflects our mission and wise stewardship. Choose the survey that fits you best; responses will be reviewed in aggregate and used to guide next steps, including focus groups and priority-setting.
January marked an important step forward in Portland Christian School’s strategic planning process, with several foundational milestones now in place.
Strategic Planning Surveys Launched
This month, surveys were released to key stakeholder groups to gather broad input and honest feedback. More surveys will be forthcoming. These responses will play a critical role in helping us understand current strengths, identify areas for growth, and ensure the plan reflects the collective voice of our community. These surveys will also help to structure the focus groups.
Strategic Planning Landing Page Live
A dedicated strategic planning landing page is now live, serving as a central hub for information and updates. The page outlines the purpose of the strategic plan, key phases and timelines, and provides access to surveys and future updates as the process unfolds.
Strategic Planning Committee Meeting
The Strategic Planning Committee met in January to establish clear roles, responsibilities, and expectations. The committee also reviewed the overall timeline to ensure alignment, accountability, and momentum as we move through the listening, planning, and implementation phases.
We are grateful for the thoughtful engagement already shown by our community and look forward to sharing insights and next steps as the process continues. This work is an important investment in the future of Portland Christian School and our mission to develop students who will impact the world for Christ.
Throughout February, the Strategic Planning process has continued to move forward as we gather and review feedback from across the Portland Christian School community.
Surveys from the first phase, distributed to the Executive Leadership Team, faculty and staff, parents, and teachers, are currently being collected and carefully reviewed. Responses are being analyzed and grouped into key themes to inform the direction and priorities of the developing strategic plan.
In the coming weeks, the next round of surveys will be distributed to alumni and donors. Their perspectives and experiences are an important part of this process, and we look forward to incorporating their insights alongside the feedback already received.
Our goal is to ensure that the strategic plan reflects the collective wisdom of the entire PCS community. If you would prefer to share your thoughts in a one-on-one conversation rather than through a survey, we would welcome that opportunity. Please feel free to reach out if you would like to schedule a time to connect.
Thank you for your continued engagement and support as we work together to shape the future of Portland Christian School.
Throughout the month of March, meaningful progress has continued in the strategic planning process at Portland Christian School. We are grateful for the strong participation and thoughtful feedback provided through the recent surveys from board members, staff, teachers, students, parents, donors, alumni, and other key stakeholders. The engagement from our community has been encouraging and has provided valuable perspectives as we begin identifying themes, opportunities, and priorities for the future of the school.
As the process moves forward, we are now entering the focus group phase of strategic planning. These conversations will allow us to build on the survey insights and gather more detailed feedback through guided discussion with several stakeholder groups.
After reviewing the school calendar to minimize scheduling conflicts, focus groups will begin the week of April 13 and will follow the schedule below:
Parent Focus Groups
• April 14 — 6:00 PM
• April 16 — 6:00 PM
Donor Focus Groups
• April 21 — 6:00 PM

• May 5 — Immediately after school
Alumni Focus Group
