Education Centre of Bodrog
Mission:
Help complete a school building and put on English
camps
In
the late 1980s six Hungarian Christian families made a
radical commitment to change a forgotten corner of their
nation. They purchased a dilapidated manor house
located in the town of Bodrog, repaired it, then moved
from Budapest to this small village where each family took
in five Gypsy foster children. Their small church soon
began to grow as they evangelized the surrounding
villages. It quickly became apparent that they needed
to begin their own school to educate their biological and
foster children, and that this school could serve as a means
of reaching families from Bodrog and nearby towns as
well. Today the Education Centre of Bodrog serves
approximately thirty children in kindergarten, seventy
children in grades 1-8 and eighty children in music
clubs. They are working on completing a brand new
building to house the school and church. Once completed, it
will have enough space for over two hundred students.
Portland
Christian has agreed to partner with this work and take a
team to Hungary. This trip is scheduled for April 4-14, 2008. We will help with the
construction of their new building, help them run a five-day English
camp for 30-40
students from 10-18 years old and conduct Church services, home
visits and evangelistic outreaches in surrounding villages.
The
trip will cost $1550 for each participant. The chart
below shows our progress and God's blessings to each one
of us. If you feel led to contribute, donations are
tax deductible and can be sent to Portland Christian
School. The address is:
