Academic success is our main goal at PCS.
The academic success of the students has been and will always be the main goal of faculty and staff. The administration monitors the faculty to assure that every student receives a high quality education thus preparing them to enter the world as Christians who have the educational background to pursue God’s plan for their lives. Ninety to ninety-five percent of our high school seniors enter higher education of some type or another after graduation. The seniors test well in standardized testing. The class of 2008 averaged 21.6 on the ACT with eighty percent of the class taking this test. The high school hosts a chapter of the National Honor Society. Teaching the students to become leaders in education, missions, ministry, and in their God -given vocation is a task that the Portland Christian faculty accepts freely as their service to the Lord.
Christ is the center of our educational foundation.
From day one, the elementary and middle school students are given a Christ -based educational foundation. The classroom ratio is one that allows a caring and personal relationship with every student. Class projects, programs, and trips are an integral part of the overall education which is partnered with the teachings of Christ in an atmosphere that enhances the educational experience.
Students can discover their interests in the many activities we offer.
Portland Christian offers many activities and courses that enhance the education process. PCS is a member of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association and offers athletic opportunities for students from 3rd grade to 12th. Fine arts offerings range from elementary chorus and drama productions to high school drama teams and a performing choir. The offering of elementary band and elementary Spanish club gives the students diversified experiences so they can explore the many plans God may have for them.
