Administration
Through the years the Lord has blessed Portland Christian School with highly qualified Christians to be the educational leaders of PCS.
In June 2004, the Board selected Mrs. Jodell Seay to become the first Executive Director of Portland Christian School. This new superintendent-like position encompasses all the duties of the former position of administrator while recognizing the increased responsibilities inherent in a multi-campus operation. She is the senior executive responsible for all educational and operational aspects in the functioning of a growing, modern school system. She also serves as the Director of Admissions and is a member of the Board of Directors.
Mrs. Seay, a 1977 graduate, joined the faculty in 1982 as an elementary teacher and rose to the position of principal of the Montgomery Street Campus and the new North Bullitt Campus which opened in the fall of 2002. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Arts degree in education. She represents the Association of Christian Schools International as a member of the Kentucky Non-public Schools Commission. She and her husband, John, have three daughters who have graduated from PCS.
Mrs. Jean Lawyer, a 1970 graduate, joined the teaching staff of PCS in 1984 and has served as principal of the elementary school at the North Campus since 2004. She is a graduate of Southeastern Christian College and Indiana University and holds Bachelor and Master of Science in Education degrees with an emphasis in language arts. In addition to her certification in Kentucky and Indiana, she holds lifetime professional teaching and administrative certification from the Association of Christian Schools International. She and her husband ,Tim, also a 1970 graduate, have a son and daughter, both graduates of PCS.
Mrs. Barbara Jacobs has 28 years experience in public school teaching in central Kentucky and two years experience in teaching college. “I feel the Lord has called me to serve in Christian education. I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to join the administrative staff at Portland Christian School.” Mrs. Jacobs holds a Bachelor of Science degree, a Masters degree in education, and a Rank 1 in curriculum. Mrs. Jacobs and her husband have two children and one grandchild.
Mrs. Jennifer Haynes, a 1993 graduate, joined PCS in 1998. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Georgetown College and a Masters in Education from Indiana Wesleyan. She also holds a secondary school
teaching certificate with a middle-school endorsement. She and her husband, Michael, have two daughters-one who is in the fifth grade and one who in the second grade at Portland Christian.
